Headaches

Dr. Gulrajani demonstrates soft tissue techniques to treat headache sufferers.

Admittedly, Duke Chiropractic is a last resort for many chronic headache sufferers who’ve tried everything else. Our doctors have helped many of these patients find relief at last, and end their reliance on medication.

Many migraine sufferers don’t seek active care. Instead, they assume stress and tension are the cause, so they self-medicate or depend on prescriptions, or they constantly apply pressure and rub the backs of their necks. Duke Chiropractic, however, helps patients identify and attack the true cause of their headaches!

Dr. Duke shows how to relieve neck tension using a foam roller.

HOW DUKE CHIROPRACTIC TREATS HEADACHES

As the causes of headaches can vary, so does treatment. However, in general, headache patients can expect:

  1. Evaluation. We first rule out red flags and harmful situations that may require emergency care. We also look for chemical imbalances, review family history and any recent trauma, and perform a full chiropractic, orthopedic, and neurological evaluation.
  2. Chiropractic care. Some people are anxious about the cracking sensationstypically associated with chiropractic care. Duke Chiropractic’s doctors are sensitive to this, so we use non-force techniques to realign joints of the spinal column; this addresses the nerve and muscle disorders that cause headaches.
  3. Treatment plan. Most patients respond favorably in 6-8 treatments. Chronic migraine sufferers often benefit from monthly chiropractic treatments to reduce the postural triggers that cause their recurring headaches. Treatment may include but not be limited to:
    • Chronic manipulation: A gentle realignment of joints of the spinal column, which, when misaligned, can cause nerve and muscle disorders.
    • Exercise and maintenance: Our doctors design exercises that are specific to your posture. We will teach you how to organize and re-stack your posture and realign your spine.
    • Kinesiotaping and RockTaping: A rehabilitation technique that is designed to facilitate the body’s natural healing process by providing support and stability to muscles and joints without restricting the body's natural movements.
    • Active Release Technique (ART)
    • Graston Technique
    • Non-Surgical Spinal Decompression
    • EPAT
75% of all headache and neck pain suffers are women. Duke Chiropractic can help relieve these issues.
